The Fictional Patronymic Jump Off Time

If Obama’s legal name in August 1968 was Soebarkah/ Soebarka why did his mother Stanley Ann Dunham take him off her passport ? Because he was an Indonesian citizen of course…

And the Lt. Col. Soetoro/ Soerto:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patronymic patronym, or patronymic, is a component of a personal name based on the given name of one’s father, grandfather or an even earlier male ancestor. A component of a name based on the name of one’s mother or a female ancestor is a matronymic. Each is a means of conveying lineage. Patronymics are still in use, including mandatory use, in many places worldwide, although their use has largely been replaced by or transformed into

patronymic surnames.

Traditionally Muslim and non-Arabic speaking African people, such as Hausa and Fulani people usually (with some exceptions) follow the Arab naming pattern, however the word “son of” is omitted. So Mohamed son of Ibrahim son of Ahmed is “Mohamed Ibrahim Ahmed”, and Mohamed Ibrahim Ahmed’s son Ali is “Ali Mohamed Ibrahim”.

Ethiopians have no concept of family name and surname. If one is to refer to a person with a single name he/she will always use the person’s given name. Ethiopians use a naming pattern very similar to the Arab naming pattern but a little bit different: with no suffix or prefix. The full name in Ethiopia is written as: First name (given name) followed by the father’s name, and last by the grandfather’s name. The grandfather’s name is usually only used in official documents. The father’s name is not considered a middle name. Instead, it is considered a last name. The same is true for females; they do not take their husband’s last name. They go independently by their given name, followed by their father’s name, and then their grandfather’s name, even after marriage.

Some Kenyan communities used patronyms. As of 2010 the practice has largely dropped off with the use of just the father’s last name as a surname.Kalenjin use ‘arap’ meaning ‘son of’; Kikuyu used ‘wa’ meaning ‘of’. Because of polygamy, matronyms were also used and ‘wa’ used to identify which wife the child was born of; Maasai use ‘ole’ meaning ‘son of’; Meru use ‘mto’ abbreviated M’ thus son of Mkindia would be M’Mkindia, pronounced Mto Mkindia.

Well the patronymic jump off time is now, so let’s go ahead and jump. What is IN a name ?… The jump off place is Menteng. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menteng

Menteng is a subdistrict of Central Jakarta, one of the administrative city which forms the special capital territory of JakartaIndonesia.

The subdistrict is best known as the location of the Menteng residential area, a new urban design developed in the 1910s to become a residential area for Dutch people and high officials. Supported by easy access to service centers and nearby to the central business district, this area has become one of the most expensive areas for residential real estate in Jakarta. Several important people such as former president Suharto take up residence in Menteng. The President of the United States Barack Obama spent his childhood in Menteng, attending local schools including Besuki Public School and St. Francis of Assisi School.

Bambang Sukarno’s daddy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukarno

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megawati_Sukarnoputri

In this Indonesian name, the name “Sukarnoputri” is a patronymic, not a family name, and the person should be referred to by her given name “Megawati”. Diah Permata Megawati Setiawati Sukarnoputri  born 23 January 1947), generally known as Megawati, is an Indonesian politician and leader of the opposition party PDI-P. She served as the President of Indonesia from 23 July 2001 to 20 October 2004. She was the country’s only female president and the fourth woman to lead a predominantly Muslim nation. She is also the first Indonesian leader to be born after Indonesia proclaimed its independence. Megawati is the daughter of Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno. After serving as Vice-President under Abdurrahman Wahid, Megawati became President when Wahid was removed from office in 2001. She ran for re-election in the 2004 presidential election, but was defeated by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. She sought a rematch 2009 presidential election, losing again to Yudhoyono.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukarno

Sukarno, born Kusno Sosrodihardjo (6 June 1901 – 21 June 1970), was the first President of Indonesia. Sukarno was the leader of his country’s struggle for independence from the Netherlands and was Indonesia’s first president, in office from 1945 to 1967. He was a prominent leader of Indonesia’s nationalist movement during the Dutch colonial period, and spent over a decade under Dutch detention until released by the invading Japanese forces. Sukarno and his fellow nationalists collaborated to garner support for the Japanese war effort from the population, in exchange for Japanese aid in spreading nationalist ideas. Upon Japanese surrender, Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta declared Indonesian independence on 17 August 1945, and Sukarno was appointed as first president. He led Indonesians in resisting Dutch re-colonization efforts via diplomatic and military means until the Dutch acknowledgment of Indonesian independence in 1949. After a chaotic period of parliamentary democracy, Sukarno established an autocratic system called “Guided Democracy” in 1957 that successfully ended the instability and rebellions which were threatening the survival of the diverse and fractious country. The early 1960s saw Sukarno veering Indonesia to the left by providing support and protection to the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) at the expense of the military and Islamists. He also embarked on a series of aggressive foreign policies under the rubric of anti-imperialism, with aid from the Soviet Union and China. The 30 September Movement led to the destruction of PKI and his replacement by one of his generals, Suharto (see Transition to the New Order), and he remained under house arrest until his death.

Next let us look at some of the information in this post very closely and notice the Human Terrain Project info:

The anthropologist Montgomery McFate has become the public spokesperson for Human Terrain, and while she has increasingly pulled back from public discussions of the workings and implications of Human Terrain, in reading her early writings on British counterinsurgency operations against the IRA, we find a model of how she (and, it appears, her military sponsors) view anthropology working as a tool for military conquest. Supporters of HTS claim the program uses embedded social scientists to help reduce “kinetic engagements,” or unnecessary violent contacts with the populations they encounter. The idea is to use these social scientists to interact with members of the community, creating relationships to reduce misunderstandings that can lead to unnecessarily violent interactions…..

Stanley Ann Dunham (November 29, 1942 – November 7, 1995), the mother of Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, was an American anthropologist who specialized in economic anthropology and rural development. Dunham was known as Stanley Dunham through high school, then as Ann Dunham, Ann Obama, Ann Soetoro, Ann Sutoro (after her second divorce), and finally as Ann Dunham. Born in Wichita, Kansas, Dunham spent her childhood in California,Oklahoma,Texas and Kansas, her teenage years in Mercer Island, Washington, and most of her adult life in Hawaii and Indonesia.

Dunham studied at the East–West Center and at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu, where she attained a bachelor’s in anthropology or mathematics ]and master’s and Ph.D. in anthropology. Interested in craftsmanship, weaving and the role of women in cottage industries, Dunham’s research focused on women’s work on the island of Java and blacksmithing in Indonesia. To address the problem of poverty in rural villages, she created microcredit programs while working as a consultant for the United States Agency for International Development. Dunham was also employed by the Ford Foundation in Jakarta and she consulted with the Asian Development Bank in Gujranwala,Pakistan. Towards the latter part of her life, she worked with Bank Rakyat Indonesia, where she helped apply her research to the largest microfinance program in the world…

However, recently published State Department cables, released by WikiLeaks, have sent shock waves through the administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), the Minister of Political and Security Affairs in the cabinet of the previous president, Megawati Sukarnaputri, the daughter of President Sukarno, who ousted in 1965 in a CIA-inspired coup supported by Obama’s step-father, Army Lt. In a fortuitous turn of events, the blow-back over the leaked cables has resulted in information being passed to WMR by high-level sources in the Indonesian government that contained in Indonesian intelligence files are documents related to the activities of Obama’s step-father, Soetoro, and his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham-Soetoro. In the case of Dunham-Soetoro, the files show her involvement in Javanese village-and rural-based Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) and Sukarno cadre eradication efforts in the years following the coup, an operation that relied on anthropologists like Dunham-Soetoro and which was code-named Project PROSYM. The program’s counterpart in South Vietnam, which targeted Vietcong and Vietcong sympathizers for eradication was known as Civil Operations and Revolutionary Development Support (CORDS) and the Phoenix Program. President Obama has retained funding for the two programs’ modern-day successor, the Human Terrain System, which targets villagers and peasants in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia and other countries thought to be sympathizers of “Al Qaeda” and its off-shoots.
